NCNZ Criteria Assessment and Registration
Any internationally registered nurse who wishes to work in New Zealand must know whether he/she is competent enough to register under the NCNZ, meeting all their criteria requirements. There are certain basics according to which NCNZ assesses the capability of any international applicant to work for New Zealand’s health sector.
- Authentic Identity: The documents you provide proving your identity must be true and reliable. Any fraud in the document submission process will be strictly prohibited.
- English Language Competency: Your English language skills will be properly analysed based on language eligibility exams like IELTS. You must secure a sufficient score to prove your competency to become a registered nurse in New Zealand.
- Credible Nursing Qualification: You must have acquired a viable nursing degree that is equivalent to the Bachelor of Nursing degree in New Zealand.
- Valid Current Nursing Registration: You must have a nursing registration or licence in the country where you acquired your nursing degree as well.
- Two-Year Essential Practise: You must be able to prove that, after your nursing registration, you have worked as a licenced nurse for at least two years in your country.
- Fitness Check: You must be able to assure the Council that you are absolutely fit to complete the registration process. It’s desirable to go through the requirements under the International Criminal History Checks (ICHC) if possible. Lantern Abroad provides complete support in ensuring your competency level and getting you to register as a nurse under the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
