CAP (Competency assessment programme) Enrolment Assistance

Any internationally registered nurse who meets all the criteria under the initial Nursing Council of New Zealand assessment can apply to become a registered nurse in New Zealand as well. However, he/she will be directed to complete a Competency Assessment Programme (CAP) before completing the nursing registration. It is a necessary prerequisite for any internationally registered nurse to complete the assessment programme successfully so that they can effectively practise in the New Zealand Health Sector.
In this assessment programme, candidates will become acquainted with theoretical components, practical nursing activities, and finally with clinical placements, where they have to prove their experience by working in a clinical setting. It’s a programme of a period of over eight-weeks fully preparing the internationally registered nurses to start working under the Nursing Council of New Zealand. Lantern Abroad ensures that every candidate who completed the initial NCNZ registration obtaining the nursing council decision letter acquires a valid CAP seat in New Zealand so that, after successful completion of the programme, he/she can start working for the country’s health sector. Being one of the registered agents at the renowned NorthTec Institute, Lantern Abroad has been very helpful to the registered nurses, especially those from India, who have a decision letter from the New Zealand Nursing Council to find a CAP seat at the most relaxed NorthTec Campus.
